The Joplin, Missouri-based Millennium Family Fitness Club represents the achievement of a dream for founders David and Debra Humphreys. The facility, the first of its kind in the community, originally opened in 1999, was renovated by Debra and David Humphreys and had its grand reopening in January 2017. “Tennis is a sport we’re passionate about” said David Humphreys “and it was important for us to provide a safe place where children can go to become excited about playing tennis.”
Keeping true with the Humphreys’ commitment to the community, the Millennium has formed a close-knit relationship with Joplin’s Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School. In turn, Thomas Jefferson’s tennis players have benefited tremendously from the Millennium’s academies and facilities. Since 2004, players for the Thomas Jefferson Men’s Tennis Team have achieved a first-place finish, two second-place finishes, and one third-place finish in the Missouri State High School Championships Class 1. Many of Thomas Jefferson’s tennis tournaments are also played at the Millennium.
Since its founding, Millennium has propelled Joplin and the surrounding community into the 21st century by providing a fresh choice when it comes to tennis and fitness. The Millennium offers a state-of-the-art workout facility, professional tennis instruction, and fun, dynamic fitness classes. Year-round, the Millennium has programs available for people of all ages who enjoy tennis and fitness.
The Millennium has more than tripled its membership since 2000, starting out with close to 200 members and growing to over 600 members today.
